Singaporean cellist Ryan Sim Guan Jie is a graduate of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, having done his bachelor studies in cello under full scholarship with Ng Pei-Sian, Principal Cellist of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. He later went on to further his masters in Germany at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Dusseldorf, graduating with top marks under the tutelage of Professor Claus Reichardt. Ryan has taken part in many international music festivals such as the 2011 Adelaide International Cello Festival and the 2011 Asian Youth Orchestra. He has also played in masterclasses for cellists such as Wang Jian, Gregor Horsch and Wolfgang Boettcher. Ryan enjoys playing chamber music with other musicians and works regularly with local orchestras such as the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, The Orchestra of the Music Makers and The Singapore Lyric Opera Orchestra. |
