Rachael a freelance session cellist, and works primarily as the cellist in Raven quartet. Raven arrange, memorise and occasionally compose their own music for live performances that have taken them from The Royal Albert Hall to Radio Philharmonic Hall, Tokyo. They have been featured heavily on several BBC musical documentary series, they have performed as soloists with The English Chamber Orchestra, and a couple of weeks ago performed on the main stage with Nicola Benedetti at T in the Park. Rachael is a regular at Abbey Road, recording with London Metropolitan Orchestra, recently as principal cello. Rachael studied at the RNCM in Manchester but has been living in London since she graduated. She performs regularly with freelance orchestras and most often as an extra with London Chamber Orchestra. Rachael also arranges string parts for rock bands in need of strings, before recording them. She also writes a blog about her professional life which is widely read amongst musicians. Rachael recently performed and spoke at Platform 33, aimed at showcasing the talents of up and coming artists in unusual venues. She is a keen improvisor, both live and in sessions. She has recently recorded solo for Channel 4's Cutting Edge Documentary series, Grand Designs, and BBC's recent documentary about Shakespeare featuring Judi Dench. You can also hear her at the National Theatre in the pre recorded incidental music for the latest production of Shakespeare's Timon. Rachael is currently in George Michael's Symphony Orchestra for his symphonica tour.
