Czech cellist Josef Karlicek, born in 1973, finished at the top of his class at Pilsen Conservatory /M. Skampa/ and at the Prague Academy of Music /J. Palenicek/. From 1999-2004 was instructed by Y.C. Cho at Folkwang Hochschule Essen, graduated with a Soloist Diploma. He joined many solo and chamber master classes /D. Shafran, A. Lonquich, F. Helmerson/. He won the first prize at the Czech National Competition, third prize at The National Conservatory Competition, special awards by the B. Martinu Society for performance and interpretation for three consecutive years. He received high approvals at international competitions held in Germany, Italy, South America and other countries. He has given numerous performances with orchestras and also as a soloist at music festivals held in Germany, Netherlands, Japan and United States. As a member of the ensemble Karlicek Duo (cello and piano) joined the debut recital concert in Casals Hall in Tokyo in 2008. |
