Tatty is proud to come from a long line of musicians. Cello has been the dominant family instrument with her grandfather (William Pleeth) starting to work professionally in the 1930s. Tatty is now the 3rd generation earning her living as a cellist. Tattys first love has always been 17th and 18th century solo cello repertoire, as well as chamber music, Handel, and especially playing continuo. This has taken her all over Europe performing and broadcasting with her own group The Brook Street Band, and freelancing for many other established period instrument groups. Recitals can be solo cello, cello duo or combined with harpsichord, with programmes designed to suit promoters requirements. Recitals feature verbal introductions to the music and its historic background. Tatty also enjoys giving lecture-recitals. These can include music using up to 4 different cellos, illustrations and prose of the period.
a riveting performance, which varied between affecting simplicity and visceral excitement
particular praise must go to the cellist Tatty Theo for her beautifully subtle underpinning and shading of the melodic lines above The Strad. |
